Principal Message

CES Families,

What a fantastic first week of school! It has been so exciting to have our building filled with students, laughter, learning, and lots of Cougar pride. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for helping us kick off the school year on such a positive note!

Just a reminder as we settle into our routines- The school day begins at 8:00, and students should not be dropped off before 7:30. We do not have supervision available for students until 7:30.

Paws for Applause!

Our CES staff are amazing, and we want to make sure we take time to recognize them!

The Paws for Applause form is a way to celebrate a staff member who has gone above and beyond, made a difference for students or colleagues, or simply brought positivity to our school community.

Did someone make your day a little easier? Support your student in a big way? Jump in to help when needed? Bring positive energy to CES?

Morning Drop-Off Procedure

Our new procedure went very well last week!

Before school supervision begins at 7:30 in the cafeteria.
Parents/guardians must enter the Elementary School circle drive via Milwaukee Rd. and continue toward the front entrance of the building.
Please pull up to the red X indicated in the attached image which marks the beginning of the sidewalk.
Students may only exit vehicles on the right side, directly onto the sidewalk that runs along the front of the building.
If your child needs assistance exiting your vehicle, please turn on your hazard lights and a staff member will assist you.
Parking and leaving the vehicle unattended in the drop off zone is not permitted.
Please leave enough space between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you so you can safely pull out once your student is on the sidewalk.
Exit the circle drive onto Milwaukee Rd. after dropping off your student
Our School Resource Officer/Clinton Police Department will be directing traffic on Milwaukee Rd. and our circle drive exit
A crossing guard will be located on Milwaukee Rd.
If parents choose to walk their child to the building, please park near the football field in the designated space shown on the map below. Be aware of buses entering.
If you need to park in our main lot for any reason during the drop off time, please enter off Milwaukee Rd. This is now an entrance and exit. Park in the main lot and take the sidewalk to our front entrance.

NOTE: Using East Street to access the CES parking lot is not permitted between 7:30-8:00 a.m. See the last bullet point above if you need to access our parking lot during drop off times.

Breakfast

A nutritious breakfast is an important part of starting the day strong. Breakfast is available for students at CES beginning at 7:30 a.m. Students who eat breakfast at school are welcome to enter through our morning drop-off procedures and enjoy breakfast before the school day begins.

A note from Mrs. Hildebrandt

If you have not already done so, please read through the behavior compact with your child, sign and send it back to your child’s teacher. This is important to creating a school-family partnership with agreed upon expectations.

This month teachers will be focusing on teaching and practicing our character trait respect. We encourage you to participate by doing any of the following:

Talk with your child about respectful actions at home such as:

Talking kindly
Listening to one another
Putting away belongings
Helping another family member or sibling
Cleaning up without being asked to do so
Feeding a pet
Taking out the trash
Making their bed
Helping prepare dinner

Encourage your child to write a note to someone they appreciate!

Reflection: Talk with your child and ask them something they did respectful today or a way someone showed respect to them

CES Blanket Fundraiser

We will be selling blankets through our front office again this year. Profits from sales go towards providing Kona Ice to all our students at our end of the year celebrations. Please send completed forms and payment in a marked envelope to the office. Sales end on September 11th to ensure blankets to arrival before the conclusion of the fall sport season.
